Hazy Run

July 9, 2009

Marissa and I did a nice 40 minute jog in the hazy sun that is our summer. The forest fires all over are creating quite the red glow in the sky. I didn’t notice but by the afternoon the city had issued a health alert for those with lung issues.

Anyway, we did a nice warm up and then 10 minutes of 30 seconds of sprinting and 30 seconds of recovering. It was nice to have that hard part in the middle.

After the run I went and pulled carpet and staples up from Marissa and Jon’s new house. What a treat. I was soooo sweaty and stinky by the end of the day my shower took twice as long as normal.

Today I was in the middle of a push up test to train to do 100 push ups at one time. The phone rang so I have to start over.

Intervals

July 3, 2009

Meg here, all by myself, I guess…hmmmm.

I got on the treadmill and did a great 25 minutes of 1 minute at 5mph and 1 minute at 8mph. It is a great way to really get some sweat out. I feel like the first few high intervals are so hard and then midway through you get into the groove and think “Man I can do anything for 1 minute.” Then about three quarters through you start counting how many more times you have to run at 8mph. It is funny. Sometimes I would catch myself daydreaming during a fast minute and I would not be breathing enough or focusing on my form so I would be about ready to collapse.

My treadmill is set up so that I look out a downstairs bedroom window at the lake behind the house and I was just watching people fish and the fish jump. It was great. The sun is out and I am going to wash some big windows before I shower. I am getting so much done today, it is great. Deck is washed, hot tub deck washed, deck chairs washed. I am hoping to get all the exterior windows washed and then work on the inside.

Not too sore today from that workout yesterday. I guess the large amounts of alcohol running through my body helped keep the lactic acid from building up or something. ;-)

Hope you are all getting some sun.

At it again

July 3, 2009

Just another day or two off but still getting back to it. I was super hung over today (Thanks Tara and Marissa!) So that made the workout so much more exciting. I did the JM 30 Day Shred video and man I am so weak. The push ups were terrible and I could barley hold the planks at all.

The weight is unchanging but that is to be expected with this lack luster commitment.

I know you are out there working out I just don’t see the blogging I used to, what is up?

Jeff is out at the lake in our backyard trying to catch a trout bigger than his thumb. I am going to hit the hay early and try to get on the treadmill tomorrow. We also hung up the pull up bar and I got a measly three. I will have to work on that tomorrow and the running too.

Going for it…again!

June 29, 2009

Well, two days off is not bad. I had to get out of town for a 60th wedding anniversary and then we got an offer on the house so with all that I just did not get to the workout for two days. I did get one in today. I ran in the wonderful sunshine that baked Anchorage today. I also wore my Garmin Forerunner, which is really nice. I just love knowing my pace all the time. I ran 3 miles and figured out that Marissa and Jon’s new places is just under a mile away…we are going to be there all the time…hee hee.

I did weigh in and was at 156 after the run. I guess I gained just a couple of pounds instead of 7 or 8. Either way it was nice to not see that 160 again. I am feeling good and getting more energy each time I workout. The diet is next but for now I am happy to get a workout in.

Jeff got the pull up bar hung and I did manage three. They hurt and I will be sore but I did it. He is trying to do 10 each time he walks by the bar. It is right inside the door from the garage so he is going to be doing quite a few pull ups from here on out.

Well off the bed. Hope you all are getting chances to workout and such…

Reality Bites

June 24, 2009

Holy, holy, holy…the weigh in this morning was less than encouraging.

Morning weight: 160

Yeah that is right. I am right back where I started before the whole 90 day challenge thingy. It was quite the wake up call. I had eaten breakfast and was wearing workout clothes but I hardly think that makes up for all that weight. My last weigh in a week ago was 153 so this is quite the jump. I was in shock for awhile but am just getting motivated now.

I am currently weaning Eli and so I think with milk production shutting down there is a shift in hormone balance. That coupled with a ton of company and no sleep and drinking and eating too much and there you have 8 extra pounds. Oh well.

I ran the 20 minute BFL workout with intervals of 5,6,7,8 and the last minute at 8.5 mph. That was really hard and I know I am going to be sore. I am going to do the JM 30 Day Shred video in the am. Hope that doesn’t work me over too much. I think right now my focus has to be getting this extra weight off. Then I can work on adding strength. So for now I am sticking with intervals on the treadmill and videos in between.

Wish me luck!

Getting back into it!

June 24, 2009

Meg here and fired up! Treadmill is in the garage and ready to be set up in the WORKOUT ROOM!!!

Tomorrow is day one or I am going to lose my mind. I have worked out three times since our anniversary in March. I am just fed up with feeling yucky and like I never get to do anything for me. I am going to run on the treadmill. 20 minutes of intervals should be good to get me started. I am going to weigh in in the morning so that I have some idea of where I am. I still want to lose 15-20 lbs but am not sure if that will ever happen.

I am going to get back in shape though. I am so weak and all this moving has just showed me how weak I really am. I hate being sore after every moving day. One more sister to move and a few big things left for us and then just smooth sailing until winter…hee hee.

I really want to feel good about how I am taking care of myself. It is so easy to just relaxe and never find the time to do this so I am saying this tonight…I am starting a fitness program in the morning and I am going to work out at LEAST 5 times a week. That is that!

So Jealous!

April 27, 2009

Man Marissa,

I am so jealous. The treadmill, the weight so low…what don’t you have??? Hee hee. But seriously, I cannot wait to have the treadmill back in a house with me. We are moving that direction in a couple weeks. I do need to get my butt outside now that the snow is gone.

I know you can do a 3 in 30 this summer. The intervals really help with that. We should go for a run with our matching shoes and my forerunner and we can really know what kind of a pace we can handle.

My weight is kinda steady but not what I want. Blah.

Breaking in my New Gear

April 27, 2009

Rissa here -

So, I’m easing into 31 by breaking in my new running shoes (the same as Meg’s!). I alternated between inclined walking and slow jogging today for 30 minutes. Did get to 2 miles, so that’s good. My iPod armband is sweet and my watch that is also an iPod remote is super sweet! My weight has been pretty stable at 140 to 142, but I’m hoping that running again and maybe biking will shake that up a little. Jon’s marathon training is getting serious, so I’m thinking of biking up ahead of him with gatorade so he doesn’t have to carry anything with him. And that way we both get a workout!

I’m thinking of reinstating my goal to run a 3-in-30 sometime this summer. I think doing intervals has helped my endurance. Well, I gotta go pick Jon up from work. Later, chicas!

I love my husband.

April 22, 2009

Well he is just so adorable. He really is trying to help me get back into the swing of things. He is at work but said that when he and the others go to the Jr. High to run he will call me so he can watch the boys while I run on the track. How nice is that? Well I just have to get motivated to do it. I walked a bunch with the boys and they are napping.

Okay it is getting better. We still have not sold our house but we are on it. Any second now the phone will ring and an offer will come in. I just know it…..
